Sydney seems to be leading the way when it comes to human consumption of insects with a new Sydney company incorporating crickets into a high protein bar.
The company is hoping that people can embrace the idea of eating insects after learning how clean and high in protein they are.
Following news that bugs are expected to be one of the biggest food trends in 2016, now crickets are being added to bars developed by a Sydney based nutritionist.
She says crickets are not only nutrient rich but are one of the best foods available. In fact, just 100 grams of raw crickets yields 28 grams of protein!
Some experts believe consuming grinded crickets in various flavours and ingredients—such as crickets in flour—make them more delicious.
She also explains that there are ecological benefits to farming crickets which require alot less resources than farming traditional animals. Among these resources are food requirements, water, and land.
