This year over 1000 Victorians have been struck by the Ross River virus outbreak, mostly in rural Victoria.
Mosquitoes spread the virus which brings with it debilitating symptoms including severe joint pain, swelling and fatigue. Symptoms can last a year or more in one in four cases.
Thankfully most of the sufferers in Melbourne only experienced mild symptoms but in some cases the symptoms can be worse.
Ross River virus spreads quickly which is why it’s so important to protect yourself and your family. Start by ensuring your doors and windows are covered with insect screens.
