Watching raw data of mosquitoes obtained from scientists, has led to the discovery that mosquitoes have very different flying behaviour than other insects. In fact scientists have gone as far as describing the flying pattern of mosquitoes as “illogical”.
Mosquitoes flap their wings as much as 800 times in a second, this is 4 times faster than the average insect of the same size.
It appears mosquitoes flap their wings in a figure 8 pattern in order to make the noise they do, which could be related to mating.
