The mayor of Rio has dismissed calls for the cancellation or postponement of the Olympics due to the spread of the Zika virus.
Recently a leading public health professor from Canada said it would be “irresponsible” to go ahead with the Olymic games given that the Zika virus was so prevalent in Brazil.
The Zika virus has spread globally and the World Health Organisation declared a public health emergency.
However despite the concerns, Eduardo Paes says Rio in August will be safe.
